Our Massage Types
Deep Tissue Massage
A deep tissue massage can provide several benefits for the body, including: reducing chronic muscle pain, improving flexibility and range of motion, breaking up scar tissue, relieving tension in deep muscle layers, alleviating stress, promoting better blood circulation, and potentially aiding in injury rehabilitation, particularly for areas like the lower back and shoulders with chronic tightness.
Benefits for the Body:
Deep tissue massage can significantly benefit the mind by reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, promoting relaxation, enhancing sleep quality, and increasing the release of feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine, leading to a greater sense of well-being and emotional balance.
Benefits for the Mind:
Deep tissue massage can benefit daily life by relieving muscle pain and tension, improving flexibility and range of motion, reducing stress and anxiety, enhancing blood circulation, breaking up scar tissue, promoting better posture, and potentially aiding in faster recovery from injuries, ultimately leading to a greater sense of overall well-being and improved physical function.
Lymphatic Massage (MLD)
Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized massage technique developed by Dr. Emil Vodder in the 1930s, designed to enhance the body's lymphatic system function. This gentle, rhythmic massage aims to stimulate lymph flow, assisting in the removal of waste products and toxins from tissues.
By using light, sweeping hand movements, a trained therapist can help reduce fluid retention, alleviate swelling, and improve overall immune function. MLD is often utilized as a therapeutic approach for conditions such as lymphedema, post-surgical swelling, and chronic venous insufficiency.
Beyond its physical benefits, many people find this technique deeply relaxing, contributing to stress reduction and a sense of well-being. As with any therapeutic treatment, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional to ensure it's appropriate for individual health needs.
Cupping Massage
Cupping massage is an ancient therapeutic technique that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This practice, which has roots in traditional Chinese medicine, is believed to facilitate healing by increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, and promoting relaxation.
During a cupping session, cups made from various materials, such as glass, bamboo, or silicone, are strategically placed on the body, often on the back, shoulders, or neck. The suction created by the cups pulls the skin and underlying tissues upward, which can help loosen tight muscles, encourage lymphatic drainage, and release fascia.
While cupping can leave temporary marks or bruises on the skin, many people find the experience to be deeply relaxing and beneficial for alleviating muscle tension and stress. As with any therapeutic practice, it's important to consult with a qualified practitioner to ensure safety and effectiveness. We typically use silicone, glass & acrylic cups at our practice.
